The About Stuff

Hi my name is Lim Yuen Hoe, or Jason, or moofang, depending on where and how you encounter me. On this blog, thanks to a bit of history that I will spare you, I post with the somewhat unwieldy screen name of Jason moofang.

As must surely be evident from the visible thematic elements of the blog, I am a Linux user, and a very happy one. So happy in fact that I have taken to advocating it whenever I can, as well as to penning a growing list of howtos and solve-its for various little problems one might wander into while prying around the stickier bits of the OS – composing a significant portion of this blog. My current main distro is OpenSUSE and my desktop environment is KDE’s Plasma – my favorite by far. I am also a believer in and an advocate of Free Software (not to be confused with Freeware!), and work to support the cause by, among other things, joining the KDE supporting membership as well as by contributing code and patches to KDE software every now and then.

Of course, as must also be similarly evident, I watch anime too. Mostly for simple entertainment, but also for the profound feelings and insights inspired by the very occasional, very brilliant work one happily stumbles upon. People beyond the boundaries of Otaku subculture may wonder at the fanaticism some of us bear this storytelling medium, but if you’ve ever watched Neon Genesis Evangelion or Clannad After Story you’d be more than glad you gave it a chance. In this blog, I try to find time and inspiration to say some hopefully smart and/or entertaining things about some of the stuff I watch. Nowadays I also do some manga translating, the results of which I proceed to release in the blog. If you’re only interested in anime-related content, you can click the “Otaku” link at the top bar to filter out everything else. And if you have something to say I’d love to hear it, so drop a comment!

Speaking of comments, I should note here that I moderate my comments at my own discretion. I am generally happy to accommodate any kind of opinion as long as they are relevant to the post onto which the comment is submitted, and are not wildly offensive. Also, if I suspect a comment of being spam I will remove it more often than not, so avoid overly general comments, and especially suspicious sounding nicknames and sketchy website urls. That said, feel free to contact me if you think your comment was moderated unjustly.
